Drove across Kansas today, from Kansas City to Hays, taking the scenic route along Route 56. Stopped to visit a one-room school house in Lanesfield, see wagon ruts along the Santa Fe trail, and stop by a primitive hut/shack built for the Kaw Indians that was never used to house the natives, just their horses!
Beautiful sunset in Hays and lovely dinner at Whiskey Creek Steakhouse.
On to Ness City tomorrow to visit the family of a good friend of mine.
Funny, in the past, in the Grand Canyon area the government built "homes" (more like shacks) for the Havasupai Indians and they also didn't live in the buildings, but kept their horses in them.
